Photography and Filming

The following REQUIRES a permit:
1) A permit is needed for formal posed/portrait photography everywhere on the grounds of the Shoal Creek Living History Museum in Hodge Park. *Please complete the form below.*
2) lf your shoot will impact others and/or the environment (i.e. lots of equipment/people) or if you are bringing in any props (i.e. furniture). A permit is required.
*For commercial shoots, an additional fee will be applied for SCA staff to open buildings, open and close the front gate to drive in with camera equipment and props, and any other staff requests. This service is only offered for commercial shoots.*
3) If you are conducting business by charging for your services, using the public space as a set/studio for a period of time and/or for multiple clients (i.e. setting appointments), a permit is required. If you are being paid or paying someone for photography services, a permit is required.
4) Animals are allowed and need to be leashed at all times. A permit is required.
5) All film/photo shoots for commercial/promotional/advertising purposes, for any business or organization require a permit. Commercial is when you plan to use the photos/film to sell a product or service or are filming scenes for a movie or music video.
6 )If you are taking photos with an intent to sell the images or if you are being paid to take the images, you will need a permit.
7) If you are photographing/filming with a drone, you will need a permit. Insurance may be required. Please follow FAA guidelines and respect other park patrons. Absolutely no flying over the bison. If observed, you will be asked to leave the park.
The following does NOT require a permit at SCLHM:
1. If you are shooting for media/news purposes (with visible credentials), no permit is required.
2. If the photos are part of an already permitted event in the park, no additional Photo/Film/Video permit is required.
3. Nature photography does not require a permit as long as the photos are not for commercial use.
COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Commercial shoots start at $50/per hour. Permit fees and insurance are required for commercial shoots only.
DAILY AND ANNUAL PHOTO PASSES
Daily photo shoots start at $25/per hour. Annual photo passes are $100/per year.
PAYMENT
Payment will done via invoice thorough Square.
RESCHEDULING
Rescheduling is allowed in the case of inclement weather or client cancellation. Refunds are not issued. Contact Shoal Creek Association via [email protected] with the rescheduled date and time. Please do not complete another online request form.
Shoal Creek Association has partnered with KC Parks to allow your business unlimited family or portrait shoots with proceeds going to the museum.
Please respect the park, buildings, and its artifacts. Do not move or reposition museum items i.e. benches, flowerpots, wooden barrels, or any other historical artifacts.
Photo shoots are not allowed during special events, check calendar via website or Facebook page.

Email for hourly or daily rates, and availability. Please send with the following information: Name of production company, Business address, telephone number, email of contact person, number of crew members involved in production, and a description of what is being filmed at the museum. Please indicate if this is a personal request, business request, school or college request. Insurance is required for any filming at the museum.
